Ramirez collects the leftover metal pieces off a die machine and shapes them into the pawns, horses, and parts of the kings, which also feature cogs from a car's electrical system. The queens are made from screws, cogs and bearings from a car's electrical system. The bishops are shaped from sparkplugs and the towers from cogwheels. The board is made from a metal sheet and features ornate iron wires and bendix caps taken from a car's electrical system. Please note it is the artist's intention not to give his sculptures a fine polished finish, therefore smudges and scratches may be present. - Components may vary slightly in size and form - Features a rustic, rugged finish About our Artist: Born in a Mexican town famed for its traditional artistry, Armando Ramirez dreamed of creating something new. 'As a child I enjoyed inventing toys, and soon yearned to create a unique style of art. Environmentally enamored, I now transform recycled goods. I began to craft figures from scrap and discarded mechanical parts, mostly from cars and bicycles. Thanks to the creativity that God gave me, today I have an enjoyable and better way of life.'
